Buldorini, D'Agostino, Fellin and Prinoth will play the qualies

Lo Sparkasse Challenger Val Gardena Südtirol (22-29 ottobre) anche quest’anno sarà il torneo di tennis più importante in Alto Adige dotato di un montepremi di 36.000 euro. 50 punti ATP andranno al vincitore. Il torneo inizia domenica mattina con le qualificazioni, da lunedì si giocheranno le partite del tabellone principale. La finale è in programma domenica 29 ottobre alle 11.00. Per la 25ª volta dalla prima edizione del 1999 (allora fu organizzato un 10.000 dollari femminile), a Ortisei si svolgerà un torneo professionistico internazionale, per la 14ª volta dal 2010 un torneo challenger, che nell’albo d’oro comprende i nomi di Andreas Seppi (vincitore nel 2013 e nel 2014) ma anche di Jannik Sinner, trionfatore in casa nel 2019.
The Italian Tennis Federation FITP awarded the three wildcards for the main draw to Enrico Dalla Valle (number 314 ATP), Francesco Forti (351 ATP) and Lorenzo Rottoli (430 ATP). This means that at least six Italians will be in the draw, as the entry list also includes Federico Gaio, Francesco Maestrelli and Stefano Napolitano, who won the Gardena tournament in 2016. The number 1 seed will be Frenchman Hugo Grenier. The world number 184 reached the final of the Alicante Challenger a fortnight ago.
In the qualifiers, 24 players will play on Sunday and Monday for the six free places in the main draw. The Italian Federation awarded its wildcards for the qualifiers to Peter Buldorini (1087 ATP) and Stefano D'Agostino, 19 years old from Arco, number 1658 in the ATP ranking. The organisers' two wildcards go to 22-year-old Pietro Orlando Fellin (1348 ATP) and local hero Patric Prinoth (1782 ATP). The 27-year-old from S. Cristina won today's 'finals' for the wildcard against Erwin Tröbinger and Gabriel Moroder, his training partners.
